"that strange, late-September feeling that somewhere in a small classroom with small chairs an elementary school teacher was waiting" - Zadie Smith

Another beautiful north Norfolk evening greeted the S.W.A.M.P. team as we once again returned to Morston Pond to continue our work to clear the invasive Crassula pond weed.

Having had kind Charlie take away the bagged and dried Crassula from previous weeks' work a few days ago, we were back to bagging up the weed which had been dug out and left to dry on our crates and pallets. The Crassula had been excavated in large clumps which could easily be hauled up and placed into our reusable green bags.

While the water is still very low (after the elongated warm and dry weather this Summer) we are very keen to make every effort to remove as much of the weed while we can navigate the deeper parts of the pond.

A good session, leaving the pond tidy and bags awaiting collection. We will continue our regular early evening sessions and get as much done as we can while the pond water remains low. As the days grow shorter, we will then turn our attention to the perimeter of the pond and consider work which needs doing to the Willow, the Hawthorn and the rest of the immediate environment over the Winter. Keep an eye on our website and socials for details of our up-coming activities ...
