Despite our best efforts, and our willingness to get wetter than usual, play on the first evening at Morston Pond was abandoned without a ball being bowled or a Crassula root being uplifted.
Sheltering in the bus stop on Langham Road, wheelbarrow full of wet weather gear, we were already soaked to bone as the water poured down the street towards the village car park. Our intrepid umpires inspected the pitch and decided, in true Dickie Bird style, that no play was possible on a thoroughly sodden outfield.
Further to our disappointment of a lost day's play, we also discovered that out usual post-pond refreshments were also cancelled, what with The Anchor now being on 'Winter' hours and closed on Mondays.
Tune in next time, to see if the Autumnal weather improves!!
