"It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold" - Charles Dickens (Great Expectations)

Writer: S.W.A.M.P.S.W.A.M.P.

The first March S.W.A.M.P. community volunteer session at Morston Pond was met with (thankfully) warm weather to encourage our clearing up and general maintenance.

We were also delighted to be introduced to a new species of bio-diversity - the Blue Mint Beetle - as well as mating toads (look away kids) and some toad spawn. How do you tell the difference? Well, let's ask Mr Google!

  • Frog spawn: Jelly-like clumps of eggs that are usually found in shallow water

  • Toad spawn: Long, gelatinous ribbons of eggs that are usually found in deeper water and wrapped around vegetation
