Morston Pond - September 2025

A cooler September late afternoon met our SWAMP volunteers as we continued our work from our Educational Day earlier in the month to excavate Crassula from the remaining depths of the pond.

Using up-turned barrels to transport excavated Crassula from the deepest water to the edge of the pond

Careful 'weeding' by hand and small tool around the perimeter is just as effective and important as grabbing handfuls of plant from the pond depths

There's no other way sometimes than getting in the water and preparing to get muddy

As ever, SWAMP mascot Slinky kept a careful eye on all proceedings

We also discovered a new species (to us) the Great Silver Water Beetle

as well as the larvae for the Norfolk Hawker dragonfly
